Students who plan to major in psychology and minor in elementary education should select the educational psychology concentration within the psychology major.
Please note that you must formally apply to, and be accepted by, the UIS Teacher Education Program in order to earn a minor in elementary education.
Psychology courses PSY 327/PSY 401 Educational Psychology, PSY 322/PSY 422 Child Development, and PSY 323/PSY 423 Adolescence fulfill prerequisites for admission to the teacher education program at UIS, and PSY 324/PSY 424 Exceptional Child is a required course for a minor in either elementary or secondary education.
