All students seeking teacher candidacy with the State of Illinois and the University of Illinois Springfield’s Teacher Education Program, must first pass the Illinois Certification Testing System’s (ICTS) “Basic Skills Test” (BST).
Admitted MSS applicants who have not passed the BST are registered in TEP 202. Among other educator-based instruction, TEP 202 places strong emphasis on succeeding in this mandatory component of teacher education. Additionally, the ICTS website provides a wealth of information to assist with taking the test, including dates, locations, practice tests and study guides.
