Taste of UIS presents a look at lobbying

SPRINGFIELD – The second program in this fall's "Taste of UIS Lunchtime Lecture Series" – discussions with distinguished UIS faculty and alumni sponsored by the U of I Alumni Association at UIS – will feature a panel presentation by three professional lobbyists.
The program is set for Wednesday, October 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maldaner's Upstairs, 222 South Sixth St., Springfield. All programs in the series are open to the public; however, reservations are required.
"Politicians, Lobbyists, and Scallywags" will look at what lobbyists do, how lobbying interfaces with the election process, and whether lobbyists have an unfair advantage over the needs of ordinary citizens in affecting public policy. There will also be time for questions from the audience.
Alumni panelists will include Len Lieberman, director of government affairs for the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago; Joyce Nardulli, vice president of government relations for the Illinois Bankers Association; and Randy Witter, president of Cook-Witter, Incorporated. Rich Bradley, news director of Public Radio WUIS, will moderate.
The third program, on Wednesday, November 15, will be "Today's Decisions, Tomorrow's Consequences: Challenges and Opportunities for Aging Boomers and Their Communities."The program includes a hot buffet lunch. Cost is $20 per person, $15 for Alumni Association members and their guests.
