Media Advisory: ISAC officials will discuss MAP Plus grantsSeptember 12, 2006What: Illinois Student Assistance Commission Chairman Don McNeil and ISAC Commissioner Andrew Davis will conduct a media briefing about the new MAP Plus grant program for middle-income college students that is now in effect. The National Credit Education Week campaign to curb college loan defaults and other issues concerning financial aid will also be discussed. When: 11 a.m., Thursday, September 14 Where: UIS Public Affairs Center, Conference Room D, located on the lower level of the PAC Details: McNeil and Davis will outline the benefits, funding, and eligibility of MAP Plus, which was signed into law by Gov. Rod Blagojevich on July 30, 2006, to directly aid college students from middle-income families. MAP Plus provides $500 to each college sophomore, junior, and senior who is not eligible for the need-based MAP (Monetary Award Program). The typical household income of a MAP Plus recipient is $81,000. |
