Gladdys is assistant professor of digital media at the University of Florida. Her work translates mapped landscapes and familiar interactions into alternative geographies, cultivating a sense of wonder in the familiar and everyday.  By employing personal narratives and technology to engage the viewer, she transforms spectators into participants. commute, a visual/auditory/sensory re-creation of Gladdys' solo journey on the Sangamon River, stems from the period of time when her daily journey between Springfield and Champaign evolved into a complete exploration of the route by bicycle, footpath, and kayak.

The Visual Arts Gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences Building on the UIS campus. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  For further information, contact Lara Stremsterfer at 206-6506.
