UIS Alumni Awards will honor six for exceptional service

October 16, 2006

SPRINGFIELD – Five alumni and a professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Springfield will be honored at the Alumni Celebration and Awards Dinner, to be held Friday, November 3, at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, 212 N. Sixth Street in downtown Springfield. This annual event recognizing outstanding alumni achievement, service, and loyalty will begin with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by the dinner and award presentations. The event is open to the public; however reservations are required and should be made no later than October 25.

Alumni Association at UIS

This year the University of Illinois Alumni Achievement Award will be presented to John D. Blackburn, chief executive officer of Country Insurance and Financial Services in Bloomington. The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Cullom Davis, UIS History professor emeritus. Ethel S. Gingold will be the first UIS recipient of the University of Illinois Humanitarian Award. Loyalty Awards for Exceptional Alumni Service will be presented to Randall F. Dunn, William G. Hall, and Claudia M. Pitchford.

UIS Chancellor Richard Ringeisen and U of I Alumni Association President and CEO Loren Taylor will serve as hosts for the event. University President B. Joseph White will present the awards.

The cost is $65 per person for Alumni Association members and their guests, $85 per person for nonmembers. Cost includes the dinner and reception. Black tie is optional.
