UIS Fall Music Brownbag Concert to feature three ensemblesOctober 4, 2005SPRINGFIELD – The Fall Music Brownbag at the University of Illinois at Springfield -- featuring performances by the UIS Band, UIS Chamber Orchestra, and UIS Chorus – will begin at noon Friday, October 14, in conference room C/D, located in the lower level of the Public Affairs Center on the UIS campus. The program is free and open to the public.
Sharon Graf, assistant professor of ethnomusicology, noted, “We invite everyone to bring their lunch, enjoy the music, and learn a bit about what Music at UIS has to offer. There will be something for everybody.” Each group is made up of UIS students, faculty, staff, and community members and has been rehearsing since the fall semester began in August. The performances will include vocal music in Swahili, a barber shop quartet, Korean folk music, English madrigals and string music, a work by Bach, and the UIS School Song.
