U of I Alumni Association to sponsor networking eventOctober 26, 2004SPRINGFIELD - The University of Illinois Alumni Association will sponsor an Illinois Alumni Roundtable Networking evening for alumni and current students of all three U of I campuses – Springfield, Chicago, and Urbana-Champaign – from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 4, at Sebastian’s Stella Blue, 221 S. Fifth St. in Springfield. Participants will be able to network with fellow students and graduates and mingle with alumni leaders as they share career path and professional development advice during roundtable discussions. Four alumni will make presentations.
Deb Cimarossa, senior human resource consultant with AIG American General, will discuss “Career Mobility within Your Company.” Cimarossa earned a bachelor’s degree in Business in 1993 and a master’s degree in Individual Option in 1998. Geoff Obruzt, president and CEO of the Illinois Community College Board, will speak on “Careers in Nonprofit vs. For-Profit Organizations.” Obruzt earned a bachelor’s degree in Individual Option in 1976. Linda Koch, president and CEO of the Illinois Bankers Association, will speak on “Using Your Professional Association to Advance Your Career.” Koch earned a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies in 1984. Tom Duncan, an investor and co-owner of Peoria recreation center InPlay, will discuss “Making Lemonade out of Lemons – Career Changes.” Duncan earned a bachelor’s degree in Management in 2000. Make reservations by November 1. Cost (includes two complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres) is $15/person for current U of I students and alumni association members, $25 for all others.
