What:              University of Illinois at Springfield students will take part in a Hunger Banquet and outdoor overnight event designed to focus awareness on issues of hunger and homelessness.

                        Guest speaker: Tracy Ryan, executive director of the Central Illinois Food Bank.

 

 

When:             Begins at 7 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2002

 

 

Where:            Banquet is in conference room C/D, lower level of the Public Affairs Center, University of Illinois at Springfield

 

 

Background:            This is the culminating event for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (November 17-25). In a Hunger Banquet, guests are randomly assigned high-, middle-, or low- income rankings and are served corresponding meals that range from gourmet fare to small portions of rice and water. The banquet is a student-centered, student-planned event that will focus on heightening participants’ awareness of hunger in the U.S. and abroad.
