UIS Visual Arts Gallery to present ADoorways@

ADoorways,@ an exhibit of paintings and graphic art by four graduating seniors in the Visual Arts program at the University of Illinois at Springfield, will be on display at the UIS Visual Arts Gallery from November 20 through December 21.

An opening reception is scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, in the gallery. Both the reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

Students whose works are featured in this exhibit are Monica Campbell, Susan Runions, Deb Smith, and Chris Zak. All of them offer strong images drawn from personal information.

Campbell=s designs are thoughts, stories, and expressions of what she finds within her life and needs to show. Runions encourages viewers to recall the wonder they felt as children. Smith=s artwork is a reflective process that uses emotion, environment, and mood t evoke an emotional response from the viewer. Zak uses his art as an emotional outlet.

The Visual Arts Gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences Building on the UIS campus. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. on Friday. For more information about this exhibit or the gallery, call (217) 206-6506.
