Melissa Manchester celebrates the Christmas spirit at Sangamon Auditorium

SPRINGFIELD – With more than two decades as a hit maker and concert headliner, Melissa Manchester brings her Christmas show to the University of Illinois at Springfield’s Sangamon Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 10.

Sponsored by Isringhausen Imports, Manchester’s show features her own chart-topping hits of poignant lyrics and strong vocals, as well as favorites of the season from her holiday release Joy. Composed mostly of secular Hollywood material, it is a Christmas show most anyone can relate to.

Melissa’s musical career spans more than 20 years and 10 albums. “Through the Eyes of Love” and “The Promise” earned her a place in Oscar history as the first artist to have two nominated songs in a given year. A recent role in the Andrew Lloyd Weber Tony Award-winning musical Song and Dance has proved her to be a versatile and lasting performer.

Manchester’s hit singles include “Midnight Blue,” “Lovers After All,” “Whenever I Call You Friend,” and “You Should Hear How She Talks About You.”

A dinner will be served at 5 p.m. in the UIS cafeteria, PAC level 1. Tickets are $16 (adults), 13.50 (Terrific Friends & up), and 11 (children 12 & under).

A Pre-show Discussion & Questions session (PDQ), sponsored by Barnes & Noble, will be held at 6:15 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, PAC level 1.
