UIS visual arts gallery hosts student exhibit

SPRINGFIELD – The University of Illinois at Springfield’s Visual Arts Gallery will open “Transitions,” a senior student exhibit, with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28. The exhibit will remain on display through December 19. The event is free and open to the public.

The four artists represented in the exhibit are Angie Anderson, Lori Gin, Cori Lueders, and Edward Woolsey. The show will be an amalgam of imagery drawn from four diverse spheres of influence.

Sculptor Ed Woolsey employs basic organic forms to incorporate tension, imbalance, and an innate sense of motion. The forms of ceramicist Lori Gin are surrealistic in nature and investigate non-traditional ceramics, celebrating form over function.

Photographer and graphic designer Angie Anderson offers a subjective reality to her viewers as she captures fleeting moments of daily life. Her visual statements are a stark contrast to the conceptual constructions of Cori Lueders, who explores life cycles through a re-configuration of everyday items.

The Visual Arts Gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences Building on the UIS campus. Gallery hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For more information about the exhibit or the gallery, contact the gallery at 206-6506.
