The program will be led by UIS Professor Emerita Judy Everson and UIS alumni Dick and Helen Adorjan. All three were instrumental in the production of Lincoln Memorial Garden: A Living Memorial to Abraham Lincoln, a 52-page booklet published in February by the Lincoln Memorial Garden Foundation. Everson served as editor and the Adorjans took many of the photographs.

Lincoln Memorial Garden was founded in the early 1930s through the combined efforts of civic leader Harriet Knudson and landscape architect Jens Jensen. It has since evolved from the original 63 acres of woodland and prairie garden to its present-day status comprising more than 100 acres, some five miles of hiking trails, a visitors’ center, educational activities, and a prairie center complete with a century-old farmstead whose pasture and cropland have been restored as examples of central Illinois prairie in pioneer days.

Make reservations no later than Wednesday, May 17, by calling the UIAA at UIS at 206-7395. Lincoln Memorial Garden is located at 2301 East Lake Shore Dr. in Springfield.
