What: 32nd Commencement at UIS with 713 (out
of 1,060) graduates participating. Internationally known Lincoln expert Harold
Holzer will deliver the address.
When: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10 – Ceremony
for Colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Education and Human Services. 1
p.m. – Ceremony for Colleges of Business and Management and Public Affairs and
Administration.
Where: Sangamon Auditorium
Noteworthy: UIS will graduate its first
students to earn a degree entirely online. Nearly all of those students who
spent their entire academic careers off campus will attend the ceremony,
including one who is flying in from Japan.
UIS will
conduct the first hooding of graduates to earn the Doctorate of Public
Administration.
The wife and young son of one UIS graduate will accept the diploma in his name because he was called to active duty in Iraq just as he completed his degree. He is one of 33 UIS students called to duty this year.
