Media Advisory

Commencement at the University of Illinois at Springfield, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, will be held outdoors at Kiwanis Stadium as planned.  This will be the first time that the university has done so.

Based on contacts with the National Weather Service, the rain is expected to stop this evening, and tomorrow morning’s forecast calls for sunny skies. It will be chilly, so those planning to attend the ceremony should dress warmly and arrive early.

In case of inclement weather, Chancellor Richard Ringeisen will make the FINAL DECISION regarding location no later than 6 a.m. Saturday. Check the website at www.uis.edu or call 206-6600 for the latest details. If the decision is made to hold graduation indoors, in Sangamon Auditorium, the ceremony for the Colleges of Liberal Arts & Sciences and Education and Human Services will be at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony for the Colleges of Business & Management and Public Affairs and Administration will be at 12:30 p.m.
