UIS presents “Dress for Success” style show

SPRINGFIELD -- “You’re Hired, Dress for Success!,” a style show and program on dressing for the business environment, will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, in the lobby of Sangamon Auditorium in the Public Affairs Center at the University of Illinois at Springfield. The event is free and open to current UIS students and alumni, as well as the general public; however advance registration is requested.  

Participants will also learn tips on how to make a good first impression, how to build an affordable professional wardrobe, and how subtle details can affect how a person appears to future employers.

UIS students will model clothing from JCPenney that demonstrates affordable outfits for everyone, including those who are physically challenged. UIS students who attend will be eligible to win a complete professional outfit of their choice worth $150, plus a professional consultation with a JCPenney representative. One man’s and one woman’s outfit will be awarded.

Jennifer Hunt, extension educator for the U of I Extension Service in East Peoria, will lead the presentation.  Hunt holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration and has worked for a large financial institution. 

The program is sponsored by the U of I Alumni Association at UIS and the UIS Career Development Center, Office of Student Life, and COOL Career Club.
