Founder of Center for Advanced Defense Studies to speak at UIS

March 30, 2005

SPRINGFIELD - Dr. Newton Howard, founder and chairman of The Center for Advanced Defense Studies, will make a presentation on the organization’s mission and goals at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, in University Hall, room 2034, on campus at the University of Illinois at Springfield. The event is free and open to the public.

A non-profit, non-governmental educational institute located in Washington DC, CADS provides educational programs and original research that seek to complement the efforts of government and international organizations that are focused on conflict prevention and resolution.  The Center brings together interdisciplinary teams of experts from government, the military, academe, and the private sector to promote dialogue between people, organizations, and countries.

CADS coordinates and directs research and education efforts on various topics, including decision making under conditions of uncertainty, cyber security and information assurance, counter-terrorism and global security policy, policy and security analysis, international relations and global security simulations, network-based distributed control systems, biodefense, and biometrics.
