UIS College of Education and Human Services to host alumni roundtable

March 4, 2005

SPRINGFIELD - The College of Education and Human Services at the University of Illinois at Springfield will host the college’s first roundtable program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, in conference room C/D, located on the lower level of the Public Affairs Center on the UIS campus.

This event is designed for alumni of the college and is the first event sponsored by the newly formed CEHS Alumni Council. A light supper will be served.

Faculty members from various academic programs within the college will make short presentations. A tentative list of presenters and topics includes Michael Townsend, associate professor emeritus, Human Services and Social Work, “Alternative Media and Social Change”; Nancy Forth, assistant professor, Human Development Counseling, “Supervision Technique for Enhanced Learning (STEM)”; Rachell Anderson, professor, Human Services, “Using Writing to Heal”; Cynthia Wilson, assistant professor, Teacher Education, “Mentoring: Retaining High Quality Professionals?”; and Margaret Noe, assistant professor, Educational Leadership, “Leadership, the Law, and Lincoln: Preparing Legally Literate, Ethical School Leaders.” The coordinators of online programs within the college will also present “Everything You Wanted to Know about Online Education and Were Afraid to Ask.”

UIS’ College of Education and Human Services comprises an undergraduate program in Social Work and undergraduate minors in Teacher Education, as well as master’s-level programs in Educational Leadership, Human Development Counseling, Human Services, and Teacher Leadership.

The roundtable is free; however seating is limited and reservations are required. Make reservations no later than Wednesday, March 16, by calling the alumni association at UIS at 217/206-7395 or by e-mailing alumni@uis.edu.
