UIS Visual Arts Gallery to display ceramics of Bob DixonMarch 9, 2004SPRINGFIELD - “Bob Dixon: Recent Works,” an exhibit of ceramics by University of Illinois at Springfield Professor Emeritus Bob Dixon, will be on display at the UIS Visual Arts Gallery from March 15 through April 12. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Dixon is a distinguished ceramist who has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions, invitationals, and workshops in the United States and in China. His work is featured in collections nationally and as far away as India, Japan, and China. In this latest exhibit, Dixon will reveal dualities of past and present in a re-interpretation of traditional ceramics. He believes the “strong, formal power of the work is due to the use of tradition as balanced against more original concepts.” The Visual Arts Gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences Building on the UIS campus. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For further information, contact Emily Laverty at 206-6506 or visarts-ga@uis.edu. |
