2002 edition of political almanac features new legislative maps

SPRINGFIELD – The University of Illinois at Springfield’s Institute for Public Affairs announces the release of the Almanac of Illinois Politics - 2002, the first widely distributed book that gives Illinois voters a look at the congressional and state legislative district maps set to go into effect this year.

The 2002 edition is the latest in the biennial series dating back to 1990.  Hailed by Illinois Speaker of the House Michael Madigan as a “very worthwhile reference for everyone who needs a ready information source on state government,” the almanac is filled with statistics on key roll call votes, campaign finance figures, and contact information -- including phone and fax numbers, e-mail addresses, and websites -- for all Illinois legislators as well as information on the Illinois congressional delegation, executive officers, and Supreme Court justices. In addition to the new legislative maps, the book also contains demographic information for the state’s new districts.

The Almanac of Illinois Politics - 2002 is available for $44, plus $3 shipping and handling. To order, call the IPA Publication Unit at (217) 206-6502 or visit http://ipapublications.uis.edu.
