Media Advisory: Groundbreaking ceremony for recreation and athletic centerJuly 25, 2006What: UIS will break ground for its new $16.2 million recreation and athletic center. When: 10 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2006 Where: At the construction site, just west of Kiwanis Stadium on the south edge of the campus Details: The ceremony will be attended by UIS administrators, local legislators, Mayor Davlin, and other dignitaries. The state-of-the-art center, scheduled for completion next summer, will occupy 72,000 gross square feet on two levels. Funding is provided through a student fee approved by a student referendum in 2003 and by a $1 million gift from the Hoogland Family Foundation of Charles and Kathleen Hoogland. |
