SPRINGFIELD – Mary Ellen McElligott, a Conference Center coordinator at the University of Illinois at Springfield, was named 2005 Employee of the Year at the 23rd annual Employee of the Year Recognition Ceremony, held January 23 on the UIS campus.

At that time, Ed Wojcicki, associate chancellor for constituent relations, noted, “I have Four Cs that I use as a checklist whenever I think about how we’re doing. First, are we civil to one another? Mary Ellen is the epitome of calmness and professionalism. Next, are we competent at what we do? Mary Ellen is extraordinarily competent. Third, do we provide good customer service? Mary Ellen is at the top level there. Finally, are we building community? Mary Ellen works with people all across campus, at every level. She probably knows the names of just about everybody here.”
Chancellor Richard Ringeisen, making the official announcement and presentation, observed, “We really have a dozen, or even a hundred employees of the year and the problem is to pick just one. But not a day goes by, when I’m out in the community, without someone mentioning what great Conference Services we have here, and people mention you by name. I’d like to add my thanks.”
