UIS Women’s Center to present “The Female O”January 12, 2006SPRINGFIELD – The Women’s Center and the Student Activities Committee at the University of Illinois at Springfield will present “The Female O,” a discussion of sexual health and women’s empowerment, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, in Brookens Auditorium, lower level of Brookens Library on the UIS campus. This event is free and open to the public.
Educators Marshall Miller and Dorian Solot are the featured speakers in this program, which has been described as “funny, smart, and honest” as well as “tasteful and appropriate.” Noting that people who are well-informed about sexual topics are more likely to make healthy decisions, the couple brings a unique perspective -- both female and male -- to the discussion. Miller and Solot have given more than 200 workshops, lectures, and training sessions on sex, relationships, and LGBT issues at colleges and universities, businesses, regional and national conferences, and adult education centers across the country. Their programs are recognized for “creating a safe and fun atmosphere to learn about a topic that is not regularly discussed in a public forum.” UIS co-sponsors of this event are the Women’s Issues Caucus and Campus Health Services. For more information, contact the UIS Women’s Center at womenscenter@uis.edu.
