UIS music and art programs to host open houseFebruary 28, 2006SPRINGFIELD – The music and visual arts programs at the University of Illinois at Springfield will host an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 3, in the Visual and Performing Arts Building (formerly Building CPV) on the UIS campus. The event is free and open to the public. The building has recently been remodeled to house a new student exhibition area for the Visual Arts program and a new music complex that includes five practice rooms, three rehearsal studios, and a music technology laboratory. The program will feature tours of the newly renovated facility as well as displays of work by students and faculty in the Visual Arts program and musical performances by the UIS Chamber Orchestra, Chorus, and Band. Refreshments will also be available. Visitors coming from off-campus should park in lot A. For more information, contact Sharon Graf, UIS assistant professor of ethnomusicology, at 206-6570.
