UIS Community Outreach Partnership Center to host presentation on substance abuse

February 19, 2004

SPRINGFIELD - The University of Illinois at Springfield’s Community Outreach Partnership Center will sponsor a presentation on “Substance Abuse” from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, at TSP-HOPE, Inc., 1507 E. Cook St., in Springfield. The program is free and open to the public.

Speakers will be UIS faculty members Shahram Heshmat, associate professor of Public Health and Economics, and Carol Rankin, assistant professor of Human Services. The program is part of COPC’s Community Lecture Series.

COPC, a federally funded program within the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is designed to help universities, in partnership with community organizations, bring resources to bear on areas of need within their communities. The UIS center is directed by Associate Professor Peter Boltuc.
