UIS to host ADA workshop

SPRINGFIELD – The University of Illinois at Springfield will host “Strategies for Accommodation: A Campus Workshop on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, February 16, in room 3F of the Public Affairs Center on the UIS campus. The workshop is free and open to the public and will include a comprehensive packet of information about accessibility accommodations.

The program is designed to assist leaders of campus units and student organizations, as well as nonprofit organizations, to make their programs and facilities accessible to all citizens, including those with disabilities.

Eunice Joffe, chair of the Illinois Theatre Access Coalition and director of Art Connects at Northwestern University Medical School for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, will lead the workshop.  Joffe routinely instructs various institutions, including hospitals, educational organizations, and rehabilitation facilities, on the needs of people with disabilities and the requirements of ADA

This event is sponsored by UIS’ Master of Public Administration program, Graduate Certificate in the Management of Nonprofit Organizations, and Office of Disability Services with support from the UIS Speakers Committee and the UIS Diversity Task Force.
