UIS, UPI Local 4100 reach three-year contract agreement
December 14, 2005
SPRINGFIELD – The University of Illinois at Springfield and the University Professionals of Illinois Local 4100 have reached a contract agreement that includes a salary increase of 3 percent for all bargaining unit members, effective January 1, 2006.
The three-year agreement ratified Monday received a 90 percent approval rating by the members of the three bargaining units represented by Local 4100. There are a total of 150 clerical, service, and technical workers in the units.
During the second and third years of the agreement, any wage increases for members of Local 4100 will be commensurate with the campus-wide salary program determined by UIS Chancellor Richard Ringeisen. In addition, Local 4100 members will receive 1 percent equity adjustments in March 2007 and March 2008.
“The equity adjustments of 1 percent in March of the second and third years are being given to improve the competitiveness in the pay levels of some of the lowest paid employees on the campus,” said Wes Weisenburn, Assistant Vice President for Human Resources.
“The UPI members voted overwhelmingly to accept this contract. It is a great step forward in addressing equity on the UIS campus,” said Normajean Niebur, UIS/UPI Local 4100 Support Staff Chapter President. “Thank you to all of those people who worked behind the scenes getting us to where we are today,” she said.
