UIS Visual Arts Gallery to present “Routeless”August 22, 2005
SPRINGFIELD – The Visual Arts Gallery at the University of Illinois at Springfield will open its 2005 fall season with “Routeless: New Work by Leslie Stalter,” which will be on display September 1 through 29. The gallery will host an evening with the artist on Thursday, September 8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public. Stalter is a 2003 graduate of San Jose University, where she received an M.F.A. in Spatial Arts. Her paintings and prints explore a sense of place with “metaphors of home and migration” and “provoke a strange intimacy, like sharing an unbidden secret.” Currently an instructor of art and art history at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, she has participated in numerous solo and group shows. The Visual Arts Gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences Building on the UIS campus. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For further information, contact Lara Stremsterfer at 206-6506.
