Zeni’s professional and business career spans more than four decades and includes ownership and senior management positions in consulting, the media, and public service. He has been director of business development for NBC Radio and was vice president of Multimedia Communications and general manager of two of the company’s major broadcasting properties in the South.

Zeni also held a senior position on the staff of Illinois Governor Richard Ogilvie, followed by two White House assignments, during the Ford and Carter administrations.

In the interim between his state and federal appointments, he was vice president of a Chicago-based management consulting firm that specialized in reorganization, profit improvement, and environmental and energy programs.

Zeni earned a multi-disciplinary bachelor’s degree in Work, Culture, and Society from UIS/SSU in 1972 and continues to serve the university as a member of the Leadership Roundtable and the Chancellor’s Capitol Council. He is also the past president of the University Club of Phoenix and a fellow of the International Academy of Management Consultants.

Zeni and his late wife, Nona, are the parents of two grown children, Phillip T. Zeni, Jr., M.D. of Memphis, Tennessee, and Tami Zeni of Durham, North Carolina.  A native of Decatur, Zeni now makes his home in both Scottsdale, Arizona, and the San Francisco Bay area.
