Illinois Women Administrators Honor Margaret Noe

April 26, 2004

SPRINGFIELD - Dr. Margaret Noe, interim associate chancellor for Access and Equal Opportunity and assistant professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Illinois at Springfield, was among those chosen as a Woman of Distinction in Educational Leadership by the Illinois Women Administrators and honored at their annual Dare To Be Great Conference held April17 in Bloomington.

IWA, an organization for women in school administration, annually recognizes women who have made an impact in public and private K-12 schools, in policy-making or leadership on educational issues, or in higher education.  Honorees are women who embody the qualities of the IWA mission, which include serving as a voice to positively influence Illinois schools; promoting Illinois schools as inclusive learning communities that value, respect, and promote diversity; mentoring, supporting, and nurturing other women administrators in various stages of their educational careers; and conducting and/or disseminating research about women in administration.

Accepting the award, Dr. Noe shared the story of her journey in educational leadership and received a plaque from IWA President Dr. Linda Searby.  Other honorees included Dr. Sally Weber, director of Two Rivers Professional Development Center in Edwards; Dr. Elizabeth Lewin, superintendent, Carbondale Elementary School District #95; and Dr. Dot Weber, superintendent, Glenview School District #34.

    The University of Illinois at Springfield, one of three U of I campuses, is a small, public liberal arts university that offers 40 degree programs – 20 bachelor’s, 19 master’s, and the Doctorate of Public Administration.
