What: Information session (question and answer) with Judge Abner Mikva, professor of law at the University of Chicago, who will deliver the keynote address for the 2003 Public Policy Summit “Politics and Ethics in Illinois: Past, Present, and Future.” The summit will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, the Studio Theatre at UIS.
When: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29.
Where: Conference Room AB, located on the lower level of the Public Affairs Center next to the Bursar’s Office.
Background: Charlie Wheeler will facilitate the information session. Also present at the session will be most of the speakers at the summit: Cynthia Canary, director of the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform; Howard W. Carroll, who served 26 years in the Illinois Senate; Alan Rosenthal, professor at Rutgers University and winner of the New Jersey Governor’s Award for Public Service for his work on legislative ethics; Howard Peters, vice president of the Illinois Hospital Association; and Kent Redfield, professor of Political Studies at UIS.
Special Note: Findings of the Illinois Political Ethics Survey will be unveiled at the Summit. Highlights will be distributed at the media information session. The survey was conducted this month by the UIS Survey Research Office especially for the Summit.
