UIS choir to present concert

SPRINGFIELD The UIS All Campus Choir will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, in the Studio Theatre, located on the lower level of the Public Affairs Center, University of Illinois at Springfield. The program is free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served following the performance.

The concert will feature works prepared by the choir over the course of the 2001-02 academic year and will include a spiritual, two 16th century madrigals, folk music, and selections from West Side Story. Several smaller ensembles will also perform, including vocal soloists and a chamber vocal group.

The UIS All Campus Choir debuted in fall 2001 with concerts on campus and at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Under the direction of Sharon Graf, UIS assistant professor of ethnomusicology, the newly formed group engages the singing talents of UIS students, staff, and faculty as well as Springfield community members.
