Dear Colleagues:
I had hoped
to bring this good news to you firsthand. But often times, the press beats
us to it.
As you have
heard and read, Dr. Richard Ringeisen will be appointed as UIS chancellor,
effective April lst. He brings a wealth of experience with him and a deep
and realistic appreciation of UIS's aspirations.
I look forward
to his arrival and working with him and I hope you are as well. I would
like to extend my profound thanks to the Search Committee, chaired by
Professor Pat Langley, for their dedicated, focused efforts in identifying
the very best individuals for this position. They brought to me a solid
list of final candidates. They are to be congratulated and thanked by
us all.
I also want
to take this opportunity to thank Chancellor Lynn for all she has done
for UIS over the years. I am especially appreciative of her continuing
to serve UIS and the University for nearly a year beyond her scheduled
retirement. Her dedication and loyalty are commendable.
Please join
members of the Board of Trustees, my wife, Joan, and me in welcoming Dr.
Ringeisen and his wife, Carolyn, to the University of Illinois family
at a reception in their honor on Tuesday, February l3th, at l0:30am in
the Sangamon Auditorium.
Sincerely,
James J.
Stukel
President
