The Online Political Science Bachelor’s Degree

Curriculum

USNews and World Report Best Online Programs Bachelor's 2017Students in the online Political Science Bachelor’s Degree Program complete all of their courses 100% online.  Both the online Political Science Bachelor’s Degree Program and the on-campus Program have identical curriculum requirements.

To graduate, students must have a minimum of 120 credit hours and must complete all General Education requirements, Political Science Major requirements, and ECCE requirements. The Political Science Major requires a total of 32 credit hours, which consists of 17 foundation credit hours (including the closing seminar) and 15 elective hours.  The Political Science Foundation courses, the Political Science electives, and ECCE courses are all offered online.  Additionally, online students are able to complete their required internship where they reside, and corresponding course work and field visits can be completed online and by phone respectively.

Admission Requirements

In order to be admitted to the online Political Science Bachelor’s Degree Program, students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and reside at least 50 miles outside of Springfield, Illinois.  Students may apply to begin in either the fall, spring or summer semester.  Students should apply directly through the Office of Admissions.

We recommend that students complete all of their Illinois General Education requirements before they begin the online Political Science Bachelor’s Degree Program.  Students may apply and be admitted to the online Political Science Bachelor’s Degree Program prior to completing all of their general education requirements; however, they may need to complete missing General Education requirements either at a local community college or online through UIS.
