Oldfield publishes article in JPAE

Kenneth Oldfield, emeritus professor of Public Administration, published "How Can We Democratize Higher Education If We Don't Count the Votes?: A Master of Public Administration Case Study" in a recent issue of the Journal of Public Affairs Education. Oldfield's article shows that although academic public administration continuously claims a deep commitment to diversity, affirmative action, and social equity, not one of the field's top 50 schools reported taking special steps to recruit students from poverty and working-class origins to study for the MPA.

McNeil takes part in nanotechnology discussion

Ron McNeil, dean of the College of Business and Management at UIS, was among the participants at "Overcoming Barriers to Nanotechnology Commercialization," a nanotechnology roundtable discussion hosted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on August 7. Featured speakers at the session were Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) and Robert Cresanti, undersecretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
