What: Observance of the 10th anniversary of the Cisco Networking Academy Program in Illinois

Where: Capitol Rotunda, Springfield
Details: The event marks 10 years of partnership between the state of Illinois and Cisco Networking Academy, which has provided more than 24,000 Illinois students with the IT and networking skills necessary to succeed in a global economy. Illinois currently has over 80 networking academies, preparing more than 5,700 students.
Speakers will include: Dr. Christopher Koch, State Superintendent of the Illinois Board of Education; Richard D. Ringeisen, Chancellor of the University of Illinois at Springfield; Cisco students, teachers, and alumni; state government officials; and representatives from education and industry in the state.
Two students being honored at the event are from the Springfield Area -- Ryan Stalet, a student at the Capital Area Career Center, and Derek Murray, a UIS graduate currently employed as a statistical modeler systems analyst for State Farm.
