What: "Deadly Persuasion: Advertising and the Corruption of Relationships," a presentation by noted author, scholar, and lecturer Dr. Jean Kilbourne
When & Where: 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, in Brookens Auditorium at the University of Illinois at Springfield. The auditorium is located on the lower level of Brookens Library on the UIS campus.
Details: The New York Times Magazine named Dr. Kilbourne as one of the three most popular speakers on college campuses today. She the author of the book Can't Buy My Love: How Advertising Changes the Way We Think and Feel; has made several documentaries; and is recognized internationally for her pioneering work on alcohol and tobacco advertising and the image of women in advertising, as well as for her expertise on addictions, gender issues, and the media.
A reception and book signing will immediately follow her presentation.
Kilbourne will be available for interviews from 4 to 4:30 p.m. today in the 3rd level Atrium of the Public Affairs Center at UIS.
