SPRINGFIELD – Richard Judd, professor of Business Administration and director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Illinois at Springfield, has been invited to become a member of the WSJ Opinion Leaders Research Panel, a new initiative of the Wall Street Journal.

A select national group of the publication's subscribers comprise the panel, which will be asked three or four times a year to provide opinions and advice on a host of important business and consumer issues.

Said Judd, "I am honored to be included in this elite group of business leaders. I sense that I was chosen because last year the Journal elicited comments from over 3,000 faculty subscribers across the country to identify how it's used in collegiate coursework. I was one of three faculty chosen nationally as making the most effective use of issues and current business practice in the classroom."

During nearly 30 years at UIS, Judd has taught a wide range of business classes, from entrepreneurship and small business management to franchising and business strategy. He established and was director of the Small Business Institute, chaired the Business Administration Department, and served in a number of other administrative positions on campus and within UIS' College of Business and Management.

The Center for Entrepreneurship at UIS was launched in 2005 as part of the Illinois Entrepreneurship Network along with 12 other centers in the state. Its purpose is to promote economic growth in the Central Illinois region, foster business creation in the trade industry, assist regional business leaders, and support and mentor new entrepreneurs.
