SPRINGFIELD – The UIS Alumni SAGE Society, a group affiliated with the Office of Alumni Relations at the University of Illinois at Springfield, is sponsoring "Behind the Scenes at Sangamon Auditorium," a Lunch and Learn event, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 10. The luncheon presentation will take place in Sangamon Auditorium lobby, located in the Public Affairs Center on the UIS campus. The program is open to the public, however reservations are required.
Sangamon Auditorium Director Robert Vaughn will discuss his job, including how the more than 120 shows that the auditorium presents each year are selected, what kind of program is most likely to "sell," and the challenges he and his staff face in booking events for the 2,000-seat venue. The presentation will be followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility and will provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions.
The cost of the event is $12 per person and includes a buffet lunch, the presentation, and tour. Make reservations by Monday, March 3, by contacting the Office of UIS Alumni Relations at 217/206-7395 or registering online at www.uiaa.org/spfld.
