SPRINGFIELD -- Community musicians interested in performing at basketball games at the University of Illinois at Springfield are invited to audition for spots on two new pep bands that will perform at UIS' 2008 home conference games.
The Basketball Pep Band, a traditional collegiate pep band, will perform at men's home games. This group will be comprised of brass, woodwind, percussion, and electronic instruments such as guitar, bass, and keyboard.
The Basketball Jazz Combo will be a six-member group comprised of a rhythm section and horns. This group will perform at women's home games.
Some paid positions will be available on the Basketball Pep Band.
Auditions will be Monday, October 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, October 17, from 8:30 to 10 p.m.; and Saturday, October 20, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. All sessions will be held in room 33 of the Visual and Performing Arts Building on the east side of the UIS campus.
