SPRINGFIELD – The Sangamon Trailblazers Dinner, an opportunity for alumni and retired faculty and staff of the University of Illinois at Springfield to celebrate the campus' past and future, will be held from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m., Friday, October 5, in the Public Affairs Center Restaurant at UIS. Advance reservations are required.
The event is part of UIS Homecoming Week activities. In addition to a reception and dinner, the evening will include a presentation by Dick Williams, former director of the Sangamon State University Physical Plant, and Dave Barrows, current executive director of Facilities and Services, as they reflect on "Then and Now: Field of Dreams – the Development of the UIS Campus."
Mary Caroline Mitchell, associate director of alumni relations at UIS, noted, "We hope folks will come back to campus and join us for a time of remembering the past and learning more about the current campus."
Sponsors of the event are the UIS Alumni SAGE Society and the UIS Homecoming Committee.
Reservations are $18 per person, which includes dinner and a cash bar, and should be made by September 28.
Participants are also encouraged to stay for the award-winning one-man comedy show Defending the Caveman, which will follow at 8 p.m. in the UIS Studio Theatre. Tickets are $36 and are available at the Sangamon Auditorium ticket office, by calling 206-6160, or online at www.SangamonAuditorium.org.
