SPRINGFIELD -- "Business and Community Security in the 21st Century" will be the focus of A Taste of UIS Peoria program sponsored by the Peoria Chapter of the University of Illinois at Springfield Alumni Association. The event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, in the LaSalle Room of Hotel Pere Marquette, 501 Main St., Peoria. The program is open to the public, however reservations are required.
Six years after 9/11, new partnerships among diverse groups are needed to assure a safe and secure world, country, and neighborhood. An alumni panel of three experts -- Captain David Briggs, Peoria County Sheriff's Department; Mark Cheviron, corporate vice-president for security, ADM Corporation; and W. Eric Turner, Peoria City councilman and North American governmental sales manager for Caterpillar, Inc. -- will discuss this issue from their unique perspectives.
The moderator will be alumnus Jonathan Ahl, news director for public radio station WCBU 89.9.
Reservations are $10 per person, which includes hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar, and should be made by Tuesday, October 9.
