Media Advisory: WUIS to announce launch of HD radio

What: Public radio WUIS will hold a news conference to announce the launch of HD radio in Springfield.

When: 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 7

Where: WUIS Studios, located on the University of Illinois at Springfield campus, off campus Parking Lot B

Details: Hundreds of listeners contributed financially to enable WUIS’ digital conversion. Two years in the making, the signal is now available to listeners with HD receivers. Features include clearer, uninterrupted sound, and eventually will allow WUIS to offer several channels of programs.

The University of Illinois at Springfield, one of three U of I campuses, is a small, public liberal arts university that offers 42 degree programs: 21 bachelor’s, 20 master’s, and the Doctorate of Public Administration. UIS has a special mission in public affairs and service and is known for extraordinary internships, a wireless campus, extensive online offerings, and a commitment to teaching.
