M'Lou Burnett Dixon |
SPRINGFIELD – Three retired faculty members from the College of Education and Human Services at the University of Illinois at Springfield – M'Lou Burnett Dixon, Caryl Moy, and Regan Smith – will be honored at a luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 21, in Sangamon Auditorium Lobby in the Public Affairs Center on the UIS campus. Oil portraits of the three, to be installed in the College, will also be unveiled. The event is open to the public, however, reservations are required and must be made by June 14.

Burnett Dixon was a professor of Human Development Counseling and Sociology; Moy was a professor of Child, Family, and Community Services; and Smith was a professor of Sociology. The program will include a panel discussion among the three about their time on campus, which spanned the years from 1973 to 1992. EHS Dean Larry Stonecipher noted, "Each of these professors made valuable contributions to Sangamon State University and UIS. Their legacy of excellent teaching is one that continues."

The new portraits will join those of emeritus faculty Robert Crowley and James Pancrazio, who were honored last year, in the College's classroom area on the third floor of Brookens Library. The UIS alumni office is co-hosting the event along with the College and the CEHS Alumni Council.
