SPRINGFIELD -- The annual Altgeld Forum will feature a presentation on how judicial campaigns and elections have changed in Illinois and the national trends at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Brookens Auditorium, University of Illinois at Springfield. The program is free and open to the public.
Sponsored by the UIS Pre-Law Center, the presentation will feature James Sample, counsel at the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law; Professor Kent Redfield, interim director of UIS' Institute for Legislative Studies; Margo Alpert, counsel at the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform; and Assistant Professor Dennis Rendleman, director of the UIS Pre-Law Center.
The program will also feature an interview with Fifth District Appellate Court Judge James Wexstten and a showing of the documentary Benched, about the contentious campaign for the Supreme Court between Judges Lloyd Karmeier and Gordon Maag.
A reception will follow the program.
