Members of the community who are interested in sharing their musical talents are invited to join campus ensembles currently gearing up for the spring semester at the University of Illinois at Springfield. To join the UIS Band, Chamber Orchestra, or Chorus, attend any of the initial rehearsal sessions listed below:
UIS Band – Monday, January 22, or Monday, January 29 (4 to 6 p.m.)
UIS Chorus – Tuesday, January 16, or Tuesday, January 23 (7 to 9:15 p.m.) and Thursday, January 18, or Thursday, January 25 (3:30 to 5:30 p.m.)
UIS Chamber Orchestra – Thursday, January 18, or Thursday, January 25 (5:30 to 7:30 p.m.)
All rehearsals meet in room 33 of the Visual and Performing Arts Building on the east side of the UIS campus.
The Band and Chorus will present a brown bag concert in mid-March; the Chamber Orchestra will present a concert in mid-April. All three groups will perform in the annual Spring Showcase concert in late April. This semester, guest clinicians are scheduled to work with each of the ensembles.
Academic credit is available to those who have been admitted to study at UIS. Registration for the spring 2007 semester is currently underway; classes begin Tuesday, January 16.
