Message from the Director
It’s again nearing the start of summer: a time to enjoy warm weather and spend time with family and friends, and a time for students to head home for summer break.
Across campus we say good-bye to graduating students and begin in earnest to prepare for the fall session. The cycle ends with graduation, and then a new cycle begins.
In coming months, we expect the campus will hire new employees to further the UIS mission. To assist these new employees, we are ready to unveil a New Employee Orientation Program. A walking tour of the campus, an overview of campus departments, and practical HR and payroll tips will be included.
Even though financial resources have been tight, we also plan to offer our three-session New Supervisor Orientation again this fall. Current supervisors who would like a refresher are also invited. Look for details later this summer.
Finally, it is with both sadness and happiness that we say good-bye to Judy Bly, Office Manager. For those of you who have visited HR, Judy is the delightful woman you first saw as you entered the office. Judy handled reception duties, the Shining Star, performance evaluation tracking, tuition waivers, and a host of other duties. In the short term, we have re-distributed these duties to other staff in HR. Judy has accepted a job with the FBI here in Springfield, and she will be missed.
On behalf of everyone in HR, I hope that you have a safe and enjoyable summer.
