Jan Goff-LaFontaine Presentation
Tonight Political Art and the Public Sphere presents Jan Goff-LaFontaine at 6 p.m. in the Access Gallery in the Visual and Performing Arts Building.
Jan Goff-LaFontaine is a photographer and author whose work is dedicated to bringing awareness and healing through art.
Her book, Women in Shadow and Light, focuses on forty women—ages nineteen to ninety-five—who bared all to express their triumph over trauma. Jan combines black and white photography with moving interviews to portray the essence of each woman’s journey from the violence of abuse to transformation and healing.
She also created Reflections—Between the Lines, which tells the stories of men and women who returned from Vietnam, who came back alive, but were physically, mentally, and spiritually wounded.
The exhibit of Goff-LaFontaine's photography will be on display in the Access Gallery, Visual and Performing Arts Building, from March 31 through April 11.
