Alchemist Review Events

The Alchemist Review release party will be held in Brookens Auditorium at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 2. At the same time, they will also kick off the Verbal Arts Festival with poet Pamela McClure and readings by Alchemist authors.

Saturday, May 3 there will be student-written, directed and acted plays in "Readers’ Theater" in Brookens Auditorium at 1:30pm. Join in to find out what UIS writers are up to!

Global Experience fundraiser

Students will be selling T-shirts on Wednesday and Thursday in support of the UIS Global Experience Program to Ashikaga, Japan.

T-shirts in the colors of blue and pink are available, and there are kids' size, too. The front design says "University of Illinois" and the back says Springfield in Japanese. The price is $10 for the t-shirts, and $15 for the long sleeve t-shirt (only navy available).

The sale will be held between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days in the cafeteria.

Downstate Illinois Innocence Project Awards Reception

The Downstate Illinois Innocence Project will hold a Defenders of the Innocent Awards Reception beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the Pasfield House in Springfield.

The event will honor lawyers for Herb Whitlock, recently exonerated of murder, as well as three legislators who worked on reforms in the 2007 legislative session.
