Tom Ambrose, senior training coordinator in UIS' Institute for Legal, Legislative, and Policy Studies, was invited to appear in an episode of the Illinois Judges Association cable television program
Judicial Perspective. The program was titled "Dedicated DUI Courts: The latest innovations in the court system on handling DUI cases" and was taped in early September with Chris Ruys Communications in Chicago.
Appearing with Ambrose on the program were Judge Bruce Kelsey of the 18th judicial circuit in Wheaton and Judge Diane Lagoski from the 8th judicial circuit in Mt. Sterling. IJA President Mark A. Schuering of the 8th judicial circuit in Quincy moderated the discussion, which covered a variety of topics related to working with DUI offenders.
Said Ambrose, "UIS has a grant from the Division of Traffic Safety with the Illinois Department of Transportation that involves the identification, assessment, prosecution, and case management of high-risk DUI offenders in Illinois. Judge Schuering has been very involved with our training of prosecutors and probation officers."
Judicial Perspective is a half-hour program presented monthly by the IJA to help provide Illinois citizens with useful information about the judiciary.
Formed in 1971, the Association provides continuing legal support to members of the judiciary and helps educate the public on matters regarding the court system.
